Miranei script 2

The first line is from The Archer From Kipleth:

“Nanrúlee veljathal omen hótamvee, (They are telling me to return)” Albehthaire said.

Of course, the script runs from right to left.

the second line reads: Koral Hargan

-my sister and editor. You guys were too shy, so I picked a name to transcribe.

Miranei script 5-2-2011

What the heck is this?! It's Miranei script! It's smudged a little... :(

The top line, reading right to left says: Iounelle Wendralorn - the name of the last elf of Lanis.

The second line says: Iofee hínva setree naskreim nauk - I will not cause you harm.

This is something Baalenruud says to Iounelle in The Archer From Kipleth. Who is Baalenruud? Why would she be saying that to Iounelle? mmmm....

Kurt

Daily Míranei - the Eight Paths of Wisdom

The elves of the Fifth Age abided by a philosophy called The Eight Paths of Wisdom.

I've sneaked a few in here before on this blog. Here are all eight with their Míranei translations:

tjejath - persistence - that which we do as a habit becomes easier, whether for good or ill.

sjogee'ath - compassion - until you can see the world through another's eyes, you are truly blind.

míranath - honesty - we are only happy with the truth, specifically when told to ourselves.

kapérath - courage - when we find the strength to do that which we fear, we find strength in all things.

slaetath - forgiveness - the person who benefits the greatest from forgiveness is the forgiver.

maefn - love - to receive love, love all things.

akran - joy - life is joy.

loskath - goodness - evil only exists in the absence of goodness.

Daily Miranei - number related words

There are some words related to the elvish counting system. Here are the numbers to refresh your memory:

0 - de

1- oh

2 - io

3 - ora

4 - na

5 - ku

6 - as

7 - te

There is no 8 or 9.

It's called Base 8, or Octal, and it's explained in another blog here in the archives.

Click here to go to blog entitled Miranei Numbers

Here are the words related to the number system.

deth - empty

dethsiga - sad (full of empty)

ohth - alone

ohthsiga - depressed, despondent (full of aloneness)

io - eternity

ioth - eternal

iothsiga - wise (full of eternity)

orath - balance

orathn - balanced

nath - teach

nathn - taught

nathei - teacher

nathei'au - teachers

nathsiga - educated (full of teaching)

kuth - surround

kuthn - surrounded

asth - proceed

asthn - proceeded

asthr - procession

teth - produce, beehive

tethn - produced

tethsiga - productive

now here's the interesting part: grab seven vitamins, or jelly beans, or pennies.

Lay zero down, it is empty, or deth.
de - zero

lay one penny down, it is alone, or oth.
oh - one

lay two pennies down, it's paired with another penny. This to the elves of Lanis was the essence of the eternal, two lovers going on throughout all time, ioth.
io - two, eternity

lay three pennies down, no matter how you arraign them, they form either a triangle or a line. This is balance, or orath.
ora - three.

lay four pennies down. They form a quadrangle. This is a little convoluted, so be forgiving. The elves had the Eight Paths of Wisdom. If you stack four on top of four, it becomes a cube, with eight corners. So, with the configuration of four, you are looking down on a cube, an analogy of teaching, or nath.
na - four.

Now lay down five pennies. It appears that four of them surround one. Simple.
kuth - surround.
ku - five.

now lay down six pennies and arraign them into two rows of three. That's a procession, right?
asth - proceed. asthr - procession.
as - six.

lay down seven pennies. You'll find six fit nicely in a circle around the seventh. What does that look like? Yes, it's a hexagon, or honeycomb. What is busier than a bee?
teth - produce, beehive (both a verb and a noun).
te - seven.

Kurt

Daily Miranei 3 excerpt from AFK + some elvish philosophy

"Ovith ghatr lee’a hvekk bena verelln, ghatr lee'idádr hvekk  verellifastr," (If that is what has happened, then that is what must happen) she said.

ovith (conj.) if (prnc. O vith)

hvekk (prn.) what (prnc. HVEKK remember the double 'k' means you end the word quickly, almost like you've swallowed the 'k' sound.)

ben (v. root) has (prnc. BEN)

verell (v. root) happen (prnc. VER el)

-dádr (adv.) then (pronc. DÁDr)

-fastr (adv.) must

literal translation: If that is(present tense) what happen(past tense), that is(future tense)then what happen(future tense)must.

Here we get a little philosophy of the elves of the Fifth Age. It may seem fatalistic, but I tend to think of it as more zen-like acceptance. Kind of like "Que sera, sera".

But, I personally like to think this approach to life is more like stoicism. You know, "what's the use of crying over spilled milk, get on with your life."

The elves of the Fifth Age seem to be more caught up in, and aware of transitions, loops, and slips in time more than any age of elves.

So this philosophy may have more to do with the idea of not messing with the order of time.  Hmmmmm... Begs a lot of questions doesn't it?

Muuahahahahahah.....

Kurt

The home stretch

Today, on the day of my goal, I finished the fourth draft of The Archer From Kipleth. It is done.

Minor plot problems have been resolved, and almost every error located and fixed. It is done.

I may add to it, if I feel it needs it, but it is done.

I need cover art, and feedback from my editor, but it is done.

Huzzah!

Kurt
